Tell the FEC to investigate Wal-Mart

We wrote recently about how Wal-Mart and other major corporations are aggressively fighting the Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier for workers in the U.S. to join unions.  Wal-Mart has been holding meetings with store supervisors across the country encouraging them to vote against Barack Obama because of his support for the Employee Free Choice Act.  Our friends at American Rights at Work have a petition to the Federal Elections Commission calling for an investigation into Wal-Mart's actions.  They have collected more than 18,000 signatures and they will be delivering the petitions to the FEC this THURSDAY!

Please click here to sign the petition and have your voice heard!  We need to send the message to Wal-Mart that they cannot interfere with the electoral process and that people across the country want the Employee Free Choice Act.

re: Tell the FEC to investigate Wal-Mart

Just as important as stopping Wal-Mart's seemingly imporper conduct is the question of how it is funding campaigns around the country. Wal-Mart spends untold millions on the state and local levels to influence the political debate at all levels of government. There is a general lack of transparency in this regard and people should expose their influence peddling.

The best places I know of in terms of finding out about Wal-Mart's political giving is at www.opensecrets.org and www.followthemoney.org
